Which one to take???

My flight is tomorrow and I can't decide which one to take.


My preferred EDC - the Ruger SR9c:

I now have both IWB and OWB holsters for it that work really well. With the OWB, I can conceal in about 50% of my wardrobe. With the IWB, it goes up to 80% but is not as comfortable.

or -my smaller carry - the Keltec PF9:

I only have IWB for it. It is not as comfortable as the SR9c with OWB, but it isn't not too bad and I can conceal in just about everything I own.

They shouldn't, but who knows what random rubbish TSA will make up next.

Back before government groping, I flew with multiple handguns in a padlocked Pelican case, on more than one occasion. These days, I avoid flying if I can drive there in 12 hours or less. It's safer and infinitely more pleasant.

I would go with your normal EDC. I would rather have my EDC over my BUG.

I hate to write in cliches, but take what you will carry. Make sure you know the laws wherever it is you are headed to.

Good advice about knowing the laws of where you are going but also know the laws of any stopovers. Heard a story about someone being forced down in New York and retrieved his lugage for the night before planning on flying out the next day to continue trip. He took the ride.

...meaning if your luggage gets lost or stolen, you'll only be out one gun. Preferably the least expensive one.

I would've loved to take my Kimber on my recent trip, but would have been heartbroken to have lost it. So I took the snubby instead.

Well, not all of have a Jaguar ... I have about a $100 difference in replacement costs between the two ...

But you are right, it would be quite a shame to lose both of them.

I vote take them both....but if you're just not cool taking them both, take your EDC...you're going to be more comfortable with it overall I would think. I also EDC an SR9c. Loves it.

Which brings up a question I've been wondering about. What are the rules regarding shipping a firearm to yourself, with respect to use of an FFL?
If an FFL is not required, is it permissible to ship to yourself, care of somebody at your destination?

For example, I had a relative that wanted to ship a couple of guns for use at a family reunion we were having. I told him he'd have to ship to a FFL local to me, then I could pick up the firearms from the FFL, and have them when he arrived. Could he have shipped them to himself, care of me, and avoided the FFL?

I don't know for certain, but my guess is that you would have to be a resident of the state in which the FFL is located for him/her to release the gun into your possession. I would like to be wrong about that.....

No, you misunderstand. I'm asking if an FFL is required at all if shipped to yourself "care of" another individual.
A prerequisite to this question is whether an FFL is required when shipping to yourself.
