Puppy Needs a Home :(((

Post by snatchel »

Hey guys, I wanted to post on here first because I know about everyone on here is a trustworthy person. My sister and brother-in-law have a 4 year old Pit that they need to find a home for. He works as a general manager for Logans Roadhouse and had to take a job in the DFW area. Because of time constraints they are having to rent an apartment, and since they will only be there for 2 years buying a house is out of the question. As most of you know, apartments almost always refuse to take pit bulls because of the reputation that goes with them. Rather than take Abby to the pound we are making a joint effort to find her a good home. She is healthy, sweet, and gentle (even around their 3 month old baby she is completely gentle.) She does well with other dogs--I have kept her several times with my male ridgeback and male GSP. She has never bitten, attacked, or even growled at anyone or any pets. At dog parks she has socialized well, and never had any issues. The reputation for pits makes it extremely hard to adopt them out, and it's a shame. Like all dogs, pits will be agressive dogs if they aren't raised right and socialized. Steven bought her as a puppy and has raised the sweetest dog--I would take her if I didn't have 2 adopted dogs and a cat myself. If you are interested please contact me, and I will be happy to refer you to Steven. Thanks in advance, and please spread the word if you can. We NEED to find Abby a good home, she doesn't deserve to be stuck in a pound. If all else fails, I will adopt her until we can find somewhere for her to go.

Have they considered renting a house instead of an apartment? In DFW there are lots of rental houses and rent runs about the same price as comparable apartments. Have them check http://www.zillow.com for a good resource for buying and renting. Who knows, maybe they can find a house and keep their dog with them.

From what I understand, Logans is footing the bill, and has some kind of deal with an apartment complex - so that's a no go.

If they can't place the dog have them contact a rescue group like: http://www.spindletoppitbullrefuge.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm in San Angelo... But I would be willing to drive any distance to find her a home, as would my brother in law. Even if it is a meet & greet, and a decision is made to not adopt it would be worth my time and gas. MoJo, we have looked at rescue groups but the unfortunate thing is once they go to a rescue group it could be months before a home is found-- if a home is found. And unfortunately, they are already so full it is hard to find a place that would accept her.

Happyendings is a large bread no kill shelter in Waco.

I know and trust the owners, would be a solid plan B, if I were in your shoes.
