Re: UT or FL
You can get a FL or an AZ with the training you already have. AZ is substantially cheaper than FL.
UT will require you get Utah-specific training.
UT and FL get you WA, but AZ gets you NV. All the other states added are common to the three choices.
Personally, I already have the UT, but if I was doing it again I would get AZ.

I believe the basic political division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives but between those who believe that they should have a say in the personal lives of strangers and those who do not.
Re: UT or FL
Florida is $117 for the initial license, and $107 for the renewal, but it is good for 7 years instead of 5
Arizona is $60 for the initial license, and $43 for the renewal
Utah is $65 for the initial license, and only $10 for the renewal, but you are required to take a 4-6 hour initial class. No renewal class required. I have seen class fees run from $50 to $200. We charge $70 unless you take it with a new or renewal Texas class, then it is $25.
So, from a purely economic stance, looks like it depends on whether you think you will ever renew the license.

Arizona is showing 75 days. Is UT or FL quicker?Crossfire wrote:Florida is $117 for the initial license, and $107 for the renewal, but it is good for 7 years instead of 5

I hear Florida is very quick if you go to one of their walk-in service centers, but I don't know about mailed applications. I think all three require fingerprints, even if you have a Texas CHL, so that's another hoop to jump through.txbirddog wrote:Arizona is showing 75 days. Is UT or FL quicker?

You are correct! Since instructors are not involved in renewing the permits, I had not noticed that!Jumping Frog wrote:Renewal is $15 now.Crossfire wrote:Utah is $65 for the initial license, and only $10 for the renewal,
Re: UT or FL
It you make an appointment at a regional licensing office, they do your prints and photo right there. My FL license took less than two weeks from appointment to in my mailbox. I'm frequently in Florida, so applying at the regional office was the easiest for me.tacticool wrote:I hear Florida is very quick if you go to one of their walk-in service centers, but I don't know about mailed applications. Nope, many of my NM students get an AZ permit and I can tell you they are returning licenses in 7-10 business days, sometimes faster.txbirddog wrote:Arizona is showing 75 days. Re: UT or FL
I would get my degree from UT. It may take longer and have more requirements, but I think it's a better school.txbirddog wrote:Which is quicker and with less requirements?
Have to go to a couple states that don't honor us but those are honored.
Thanks.

Can anyone explain the Arizona process? It seems my Texas CHL exempts me from the class/training requirements, but I see no way to apply other than through approved Arizona instructors... It would also appear that I have to go to Arizona for this process. Can anyone set me straight here?

Re: UT or FL
Call them on the telephone (it is on the webpage). Two minutes on the phone and you'll have a complete application package (including fingerprint card) sent to you via mail. Really easy.Luggo1 wrote:Can anyone explain the Arizona process?
