I'll agree with your sentiment on Perry... but... I'll not get too wrapped up in the "take away freedom" thing...USA1 wrote:...hmmm, one guy that fought for our freedom, and another guy that's fighting to take it away...
I could easily argue that GW Bush took away more of our Liberties than any "Leader" since King George III. (Patriot Act

Re: Perry vs. Obama
I wonder what Bush was doing when he was 22... Oh yeah doing coke like it was going out of style and spending his nights in the bottom of a bottle. While I support Perry's candidacy I hope he does not get petty like that. Bush also had a DUI at 28 which he called a "youthful indiscretion". I do think it time we have someone in office who has served seeing as how the last one who did was Bush 41 and that was almost 20 years ago.

Re: Perry vs. Obama
You liberals just can't get away from blaming Bush for everything. Every time one of Obama's many shortcoming or lies is brought up, you guys have to try to compare it with Bush. No one is buying that stuff anymore, so why keep trying? This thread is about Obama and Perry, yet you have to bring up Bush. This is so transparent you'd think you guys would give up.loadedliberal wrote:I wonder what Bush was doing when he was 22... Re: Perry vs. Obama
On a side note. Do you know how drunk you had to be in 1976 to get a DUI? You had to be TANKED. MADD didn't exists, and the .08 wasn't even a thought. I think for his violation he had to pay $150ish and lose his license for a short period.loadedliberal wrote: Bush also had a DUI at 28 which he called a "youthful indiscretion".
Back to the thread. Comparing Perry to Obama at 22 merely highlights the differences in experience and lack thereof. Perry has his faults, but there is no debating his history of service to this country.
Not sure what Bush has to do with it, unless we are just running through all the Presidents. JFK was adulterous, Clinton was a womanizer, etc. etc. What do any of these have to do with Perry vs. Obama?

Re: Perry vs. Obama
I wasn't blaming Bush I was saying when it was Bush Republicans would defend him and when it's Obama they can't attack him fast enough. I am not the only on guilty of using a past Presidents failings when confronted with the current Presidents failings. I remember they GOP cry of "but look what Clinton did" for some time after the Bush administration was underway. I cannot defend mt statement on really anything, but there are stories floating around. The same way there is no proof that Obama was born anywhere but Hawaii yet a majority on the right still have "doubts".

Re: Perry vs. Obama
Of course you are. Bush has nothing to do with a thread comparing Perry with Obama, but you had to go to the Democrat/liberal/"progressive" playbook and start talking about Bush. Liberals are an ever-shrinking political faction because they have no credibility whatsoever.loadedliberal wrote:I wasn't blaming Bush I was saying when it was Bush Republicans would defend him and when it's Obama they can't attack him fast enough. Re: Perry vs. Obama
How exactly was I blaming Bush for what Obama was doing in his twenties. I was comparing the lack of outrage when there was a Republican in office compared to a Democrat. Bush increased spending as well, where was the outrage. It was the same way with Reagan he raised taxes yet he is a conservative icon. It's not aboot Obama or Bush it's about the selective outrage of the right.

The F-102 fighter jet in which George W. logged 336 flight hours (SOURCE) in the TNG so routinely tried to kill its pilots (SOURCE) that it was known as "The Widowmaker." But I guess that doesn't count as "service."loadedliberal wrote:I do think it time we have someone in office who has served seeing as how the last one who did was Bush 41 and that was almost 20 years ago.

C'mon dude. You're getter than that. You don't have to like the guy or agree with his policies, but his military service, at some significant danger to his personal safety, ought to be respected just like anybody else's. Obama's alleged "service" to the nation simply can't compare to either Bush's or Perry's.......because it was fundamentally non-existent.
