Re: The Man In The Red Bandana, Welles Crowther. A 9/11 hero
Wow....just wow. That was special. I think of Welles Crowther, and it brings to mind Todd Beamer, and how many others who are unknown to us today, who put aside their very lives so that others might live. Truly, there is no greater gift. We should honor them and keep their memory sacred in our hearts, to remind us of what the best of being a human being and a child of God means.
At my church, I am often referred to as "the old dude with the bandana," because I almost always wear a bandana as a headband when I'm playing with the worship band. It is a habit that I started merely because I tend to sweat under the hot lights, and then my sweat drips onto my glasses and I can't see the music charts. So I wear a bandana headband. Often, it is a red one. I think that from now on, when someone asks me why I wear it, I will tell them that I wear it because it reminds me of Welles Crowther, Todd Beamer, and the others whose actions point to Jesus Christ, who died so that I might live.
Thank you for posting that. It was truly, truly, a timely reminder for me.

WOW!!
Frog in my throat and a wet shirt sleeve.....thanks for posting.
I like hearing all the untold stories of exceptional courage and selflessness that arouse from that day by seemingly, anything but, ordinary people.

Thank you for presenting a snapshot of everything that is right about America during this Sept 11th weekend.

Does anyone know if Welles Crowther or any others for that instance (9.11) have received the Presidential Medal of Freedom Award?
