IDPA World Championship slection process????

The World Match in Florida used a point system to determine who could attend (more points the better the chance your application had of being accepted). I had a question.

(3 Points) The IDPA National Championship and the Smith & Wesson Winter Indoor Nationals. The World Championship has apparantly replaced the National Championship so that is out for next year, and it is dang near impossible to get into the S&W match unless you sign up the last day of that year match for the next year - not to mention it is super expensive because of the distance and length.

(2 Points) Large sanctioned matches with attendance over 250 participants (how many of these are there exactly - even the Texas State match did not draw 250)

(1 Point) All other sanctioned matches (will local clubs now set up a bunch of small santioned matches to build up there numbers)(pehaps, WHIDPA, THUNDER, PSC, SHILO, etc. should all form a federation and put on one sanctioned match each month to build up the points its members have access to - and a 250 shooter match that has only four stages so it could get done in a day or you keep it going every weekend until you have 250 and then consider it finished) If done right a federation of Texas IDPA clubs could overwhelm the selection process of the World Match.

Anyone know where I could easily obtain a list of matches around the country that had 250+ shooters?

Anyone know what the aaverag number of points it took to get selected for the World Match was?


I can understand the World Match having a selection process, but don't know that I agree with what they have come up with. It says they want folks who participate a lot in IDPA to be able to attend the World Match and I agree, but I know guys that never miss a weekly club match or a weekend match that is nearby, but can only rarlely make a major match due to time or money contraints and it seem like such a person who only made two major matches during the year would have very little chance of being picked for the World Match if he wanted to go. I think maybe your attendance at club matches, should count for something too. Perhaps getting a quarter point for a large weekend monthly club match with at least six stages would be fair, but there would have to be som eway to report the results to IDPA.
