I took my instructors class summer before last and have not taught a class, mainly because of time limitations. I have taught several basic pistol classes but not CHL. I find the whole system a little confusing and was hoping for some help with the process. I have a small class of three wealthy individuals that want a private class so I need to just do it.
I would think the online registration is the way to go and will have them go ahead and sign up. I have faxed my class dates and locations. I plan on having them go take passport photos as I do not want to purchase photo printer and of course now electronic FAST finger prints. I am also a notary, so as much as I hate to ask, but it seems things have changed since my class or I have forgot the whole process ( old age) what is the best process to follow
I have been on this board for quite a few years and find the level of expertise to be above most anywhere else on the web so if you can offer me some guidance I would really appreciate it.
I plan on doing several hours of basic gun safety at the range before shooting as part of my curriculum.
A few questions first (stupidity aside)
Does the 10 hours include shooting proficiency or just class time
Is the a list of topics required
Is the CHL 100 still used or available online
are there other forms besides the one the student fill out on the web
Thanks, Guys and Gals, I will continue to search the web for info as well

Well I found my instructor password AND found the instructor website.
I also found my instructor packet too, although some of this info have been changed or modified.

Re: Getting up to speed with a new class
Students that apply online no longer need a notory......If they apply online all they will need to mail in is a CHL100 and photos, and the CHL 6 (photo holder)...assuming they dont have any charges on there criminal record...The chl6 is available under downloadable forms at http://www.dps.texas.gov" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; You can provide it or they can download it on there own...
Re: Getting up to speed with a new class

Re: Getting up to speed with a new class
It sounds like you have quite a few questions. Shoot me a pm if you'd like to spend some time talking on the phone about it. I teach several classes a week and I'd be happy to walk you through it.
