If you're able-bodied but want welfare... Step on up to the trough

If you have a gaggle of kids you cant feed but don't want to work... Step on up to the trough

If you think you deserve to have the tax paying people give you money because you don't think you should have to work for it... Step on up to the trough

If you're an OWS sympathizer who thinks they DESERVE a 6 figure job, expense acct and a company car after getting a Bachelors degree in liberal arts... Step on up to the trough

BUT... IF YOU'RE A VETERAN WHO SIGNED THAT BLANK CHECK AND NOW NEED MEDICAL CARE???

WELL, TOO BAD YOU FREELOADING LEECH...GET A JOB!!!

Nothing new. I had to fight the VA for everything I ever earned. My GI bill and my best friends was outright denied with no explination when we both first applied for no reason. We both wrote back and fought it with one letter and they completely overturned the decision.

My wife is still in the Air Guard and has had a VA disability due to an ankle injury in the active Air Force. Recently the same tendon and ligament that they repaired tore again. It was hard for her just to walk. She went to the VA and they him-hawed her around for four or five months. Since she has to run for the Air Guard and the VA told her that they'll fix it but it probably won't ever be right we went with a civilian doctor in Houston. He told her that they shouldn't have made her wait as there was a need for the surgery and she risked aggrivating the injury. Also he didn't understand why they wouldn't do a procedure that can fix her problem permanatley. She called the VA and asked if they would do it and they said no. Weren't trained and wasn't approved. So in effect she was forced to go to the civilian doc and we were forced to pay so that she could stay in the Air Force.

But we should be bailing out the Wall Street Protestors right?
My posts on this website are worth every cent you paid me for them.

I have been on VA disability(10%-20%) for around 20 yrs and never had a problem other in fact they always tried to do more maybe it was because I have health insurance and they could get some money back. I have never asked much from them either I always felt if I was using them then somebody that needed it more may have to wait so I try to only go when it is related to my injuries.

I was IED'd in the Korengal Valley, Afghanistan. Still have shrap in my back, as well as a shredded nerve. I'm at 60% disability for that and a torn ACL/MCL. Anyway, I have been waiting on approval for surgery for 2 years now, and they keep saying no because it's "experimental" nerve repair.

Seriously? I just want a chance to not wake up feeling like I was ran over while I slept. Ahh.. to sleep a whole peaceful night.

First, as a fellow veteran, I would like to say thanks for your service. Second, even though I "retired" last year from the USAF, I have not been to the VA. My wife wants me to go, but I just kind of blow it off. I figure that I really don't have that much wrong with me for starters and (having heard these kinds of stories before) that if they are going to jerk the chains of guys who have SERIOUS issues, what they heck would they do for me, anyway? I got my Tricare thing, I'll just go to a civilian doc if I need something...good luck to you, I know many of y'all deserve better.

I would comment, however, I could not possibly express the rage and fury I feel concerning this issue as it relates to the VA, congress, and POTUS.

Heartland,
Don't wait. Those little things that are wrong with you now will get worse over time. Having a VA determination on those items now will help you later.

Yes, it is aggravating to deal with the VA but it's worse to deal with them if you wait until you need it. Start now with the idea that you can do it slowly, and their foot dragging won't irritate you as much. If you find yourself wanting (or needing) to be in the VA system later it will be far worse to deal with them when you are in a hurry.

That's my advice for the day. =)

:iagree: :iagree:

I was honorably DCd after 9.5 yrs and at that time was rated for 20% for one claim with 5 others rated at 0% but acknowledged that they were service connected injuries. Well, I am of the school that if I'm able to work and I have the option of having private Medical Ins I don't want to take up time, money or resources that someone who is worse off than me could have so I did my thing, lived my life and worked everyday... Well, in the course of getting older those rated at 0% started to hurt and ache and actually hamper my ability to effectively and safely perform my duties as a Paramedic so I went back to the VA with medical proof the injuries that started the issues happened in the Military and asked for a review of my rating and possibly to have my knee and shoulder looked at for surgery if needed. I went to a Doc they asked me to... He did a cursory inspection and no hands on exam. He asked me 3 questions and sent me on my way. I was denied and when I saw the doctors report it was 2 pages of notes of an exam that never happened. I addressed the issue but was stonewalled and have gotten no where ... if they are doing it to me who has somewhat benign problems I cringe to think of the sub-par care those who actually need and depend on the VA for total care are getting!!

This is just a glimpse into what Obamacare will devolve into as socialized medicine takes root and becomes a huge bureaucracy.
