I don't know who's catalog that is, but the only thing I had from there is the erector set. My little brother did the plaid and corduroy thing and my sister had one of those outfits. I never did plaid or corduroy except for flannel shirts. My dad probably ordered his 20 ga. from the Sears catalog, but that might have been in the 60's.

That is AWESOME! I was just a little kid back then, but I do remember the Sears Christmas Catalog...I LOVED that thing. We were actually pretty poor and looking through that thing was like window shopping...thanks for posting and Merry Christmas to you and yours.

I was around a conversation the other day that went sorta' like, "...yes, I bought all of our {stuff} from Sears, etc., etc." then "...and me too, etc., etc."

There was only a couple of places to buy things like that back in the day and Sears was about the biggest. Anybody remember 'Monkey' Ward or Spiegle catalogs or Western Auto stores?

There hasn't always been Walmart, cell phones, computers, kids with cars, working moms, etc., etc.

I've got two Western Field rifles (Montgomery Wards) and a Revelation .22 revolver (Western Auto). My first shotgun was a J.C. Higgins 12 guage (Sears).

I think it was a kinder, gentler, more polite and slower paced nation back then. Your mother was home and she knew about your mischief before you got home. If you got in trouble in school, you were in trouble again when you got home. You were responsible for your actions and wrong actions did have consequences. I don't think there were as many lawyers back then and I know there were only three TV networks whose programs were anything but sex filled violence. The violence evolved both on TV and in the streets during the 10 year Viet Nam fiasco. Incidentally, Saigon fell on 30 April 1975.

OTOH, Lee Harvey Oswald and I both bought guns from Kleins' mail order in 1963. His was a 6.5 Italian Carcano and mine was a Ruger Single-Six Convertible.

Do I want to be 21 again? Heck no, getting to be 70 once is enough.

I am not a big laugher but there were, and still are, skits on the old Carol Burnett show that literally had me ROFLMAO and they did it without unneccesary cussin', simulated sex and/or breast or other semi-nekid shots. Just sayin'...

True enough. They were definitely not as overt. Mrs. Wiggins and just about anything by Tim Conway gets me every time.
