Obama and Gun Control

Post by Kythas »

I hadn't realized how much the Obama Administration has worked to further gun control "under the radar" until this article spelled it all out.

John Lott is a most EXCELLENT defender of our Second Amendment rights. The anti-firearm/anti-self defense ideological camp hates him with a passion because he uses the FACTS to refute their arguments. Another fine article by him, and a good catch-up on the nefarious things this administration has had in the works, "under the radar".

I'll +1 the support of John Lott's work, and even go so far as to recommend his blog: http://johnrlott.blogspot.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'll take that to mean to the OFFICES that they hold...since the individuals have done nothing to EARN respect.

Their ride to "below" should be through the 'hood slowly so that they can wave to the bothers, the sisters and their mommas and the fam can wave back. Their daddys will most probably be in the big house, if they can be found at all.

I take a different view. Perfect is the enemy of good. We have this problem in politics as well. In search of the perfect politician to represent more conservative positions, we end up demeaning good people and getting much worse people elected.

I agree that creating Mary Rosh and using the pseudo-name to attempt to support his position was bad judgement. That does not negate, however, all of the good that his work has done. I wonder if any of us would be able to carry concealed handguns today without him. Whatever his sins and errors, he as done a lot to advance 2nd amendment rights and concealed carry in particular. Mr. Lott has feet of clay, just like the rest of us.

I've gotten a bit leery of anything coming out of NAGR...it seems they care a bit more about getting my $$$ than in actually securing anyone's rights...my two cents worth, of course. I think that NRA and GOA are a much better way to go...that said, I don't think that that either of those men have gotten high marks from either the NRA or GOA. I do believe that Mitt Romney is more of a "fine filigree shotgun at the country club" sort of "gun rights" guy than a real supporter of the Second Amendment...I will only vote for him as a "lesser of the evils" option to vote AGAINST Obama.

He said "all DUE respect". That doesn't necessarily mean there was any.

“He [Rick Santorum] was the most effective advocate of bringing it [legislation to protect gun companies from frivolous lawsuits] to the floor and getting a vote scheduled. He used his influence to get it to the floor. Without that, we would have lost every American gun company.”
– Wayne LaPierre, CEO – National Rifle Association, October 25, 2006

“On behalf of NRA members across the country, I want to thank Senator Rick Santorum for his support of the hunters and fishermen, and his work to preserve our country’s strong outdoor traditions.”
– Chris Cox, Executive Director – NRA-ILA, February 7, 2006

Santorum also has an A- rating from the NRA I believe. The NAGR's argument here is specious.

Yep.

Also voted against the ABW of 94...so he's against Assault Weapons Bans which is more than I can say for Romney.

Though he seems to be more of a social issues guy...and sorry, I really don't think any social issue is going to be as important to the country or to being elected as the economic issues this time...and on economic issues it seems Romney has him beat.

This primary season is going to be a tough one. Of course, it'll probably all be decided before I get to vote in a primary anyway, so.... :banghead:

I'll take one Kleck over ten Lott's any day.
