Prayers needed. going in for surgery on Wednesday 1-25-12

Post by Kiowa Scout »

Hey everyone, I could use some prayers for healing. On Thursday, I was trying tp unload my high rack from my pick-up before I went to work. The rack shifted and began to fall so I turned quickly to get away from it. As I did, my right ankle snapped and I landed on my back on the ground. I ended up breaking both bones in the ankle, snapping the ligament in half that holds the bones together and breaking the fibula about 4" above the ankle.
We went in yesterday for a consultation and found out it was too swollen to operate on. So now I'm just waiting until Wednesday so we can go get wverything put together again.

Please keep my family in your prayers because I am the sole bread winner and I'm gonna be off my feet for a while.

Thanks and God Bless,
Kiowa Scout

I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Those high racks are dangerous, let me know if you want to sell it.

LOL. My wife would probably tell you it was for sale. I was supposed to take that thing out all week. I had been so busy, Thursday morning was the time I decided to do it. Well now I guess i'll look at that darn thing for a while, saying next time make time to do this when I have help. Now I'm reminded every time I ask my wife or girls for help with anything, I should have ask my wife for help with the high rack.

I got home last night from the hospital. I spent Wednesday night and most of Thursday in the hospital. The surgery lasted 4 hours to rebuild my ankle. The doctor found more damage when got in there, to work, than showed up on the X-rays. In addition to the things list above, he found another break that he had to put a plate on, on the inside of my leg. There were also bone fragments and cartilage that were all torn up and in the way. All of this had to be removed. They had to make the bones bleed to try to make some fiberous cartilage to coat the ends of the bone. Wednesday night, I had a tough night, the pain medicine was not strong enough so I fought through the pain most of the night. About 0300 I finally got so pain meds that actually worked. Yesterday was a day of hurry-up and wait all day. We were supposed to be released at 1200,but finally left at 1700.
I finally got some rest last night. I am anxious for the rest and recover because I am ready for the healing to begin. Thanks for your continued prayers.

Take care and God Bless,

Kiowa Scout

I wanted to give everyone an update on my recovery. I went to doctor this week. The doctor changed his last prognosis from eight to twelve weeks down to six or eight. I have another appointment in four weeks. After that appointment I should be able to start walking in the boot I'm wearing now.

Re: Prayers needed. UPDATE 3-9-12 on Ankle Surgery Recovery

Post by Kiowa Scout »

I had my 4 week post surgery check-up on Tuesday. My ankle is healing perfectly. The doctor was amazed. He has not cleared me to walk on my own two feet yet, but over the next 6 weeks I will ween myself off the crutches and when I go back I'll be walking on my own two feet. That's the Praise.

Now for the prayer, I have been off work for 7 weeks now. I have not been paid now in over a month. After I ran out of sick leave, I was put on Leave of Absence. The Benefits dept of the large company that I work for has not gotten in any kind of a hurry to get my LOA pay coming. I have been fighting with them for 4 weeks now. I finally received the paperwork I should have gotten in early February, on Monday. I sent the paperwork off, so now I am waiting on them to pay me all my back pay. Please pray that this will come through soon. I am the sole provider for my wife and 3 girls.

If not for God's Mercy and Grace, we would not have survived this past month. We have been blessed with gifts of finances from friends, family and our church family.

Thanks in advance your prayers.
