The best way is to put this type of people behind bars. Revoking their CHL's does not stop them from having guns to shoot other people.

According to the article the man who was shot and killed confronted his neighbor at the neighbors home. The article said the man who shot his neighbor did not run. Where would he run, he was at his own home. Thus if he felt threatened and feared for his life, this would be a normal reaction.

I'm not saying that is what happened, but it would be what his defense attorney would say.

The fact his CHL was revoked, his dogs poop on other people's yards and that the victim had a baby daughter are all immaterial to his guilt or innocence.

On the surface, it seems the guy is going to be spending some quality time in prison at the very least.

The way I look at the article is a warning.

If you look at the comments, below the linked article, the man is condemned. Even in this tread he is condemned. You do not know what prompted him to pull his weapon or the level of threat he faced. On the remote chance he was justified, to stop an assailant, then you have to think what you may face in a similar situation.

The story is sad and the circumstances which lead up to the homicide is a very sad story. Should have never happened.
If the shooter simply shot Santana because Santana was verbally upset and no real threat then the shooter should be charged and prosecuted appropriately. He (the shooter) may be the BG but at this point, I do not know his side of the story or any witness statements other than “He didn’t run”, “He stood there, shocked that he did what he did”.

However, if you are in a similar situation and your life is truly threatened, my thought is to; be prepared, to think, to act accordingly. Use some of the good advice that is put on this board regarding steps to protect yourself after a justifiable shooting to stop an assailant. Because only half of your story will be told.

But what do I know. IANAL

Too many missing details. Who didn't run, the resident or the guy who came to complain? Did the complainer threaten to beat up the resident in his own home? Did the complainer politely request the resident to look after his dogs?

Lots of irrelevant facts like the family situation but really short on relevant facts. That's the lamestream media for you.

More details from an English paper (they are not fans of guns)

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... aeces.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

More stories in other papers about what a terrible neighbor the shooter was. Hogged parking spaces, etc.

Says he had gun in a holster and visiting neighbor tried to grab it, they struggled and it went off.

Oh, it went off six times.

Shooter a former school police officer.

Some comments include "should be convicted for having a name like Tyrick".

Most people seem to want to convict based on him letting his dogs poop on other peoples yards.

One commenter was worried about a brother having a Chihuahua.

Your post gave me a good morning chuckle. Thank You. Did the guy with the, "Chihuahua owning", brother want to know if he could legally shoot his brother for owning a "girly dog"? :evil2:
