Post by Cootdog02r1 »

I was just recently charged with a P.I. and possesion of drug paraphernalia, both class c misdemeanors, paid fines and released, I then got a revocation notice, is this revocation indefinite or will I be able to get my CHL back and when?

If I remember correctly, I think they add an additional 2 years because they revoked it. So 5 +2 = 7.

I could be wrong though…

...having been found carrying while PI could also cause administrative delays...

Yep, at least 5 years. Next time around make sure you separate yourself from that lifestyle and people in that lifestyle even if you don't do drugs. If you have a CHL you shouldn't be involved in or around any of that imo. On a side note I have known two people who where denied a chl for other non violent reasons in the last few years. One was listed as public lewdness (couldn't carry for 5 years). Guy got drunk at a college party and mooned some girls on a balcony at another party right as the cops showed up. The other got a DUI, both where alcohol related.

There was another guy who posted here not to long ago who said he lost it because of cursing in public. If they actually caught everybody who cursed in public at least a 1/4 would probably eventually loose their chl. In fact the other night I was at a restaurant and a younger man of around 25-30 would not stop saying the F word or poop but with an s every other sentence. I tried to mind my business and not get involved but after 2 minutes of that I kindly asked the man who was with his wife and mother to please watch his language. He looked at me and said whatever but he stopped cursing at least.

Edit: Funny thing is this guy was talking about how stupid people are nowadays and how they have lost their values. Go figure! Lead by example my friends.

When I go out in public I act like I am at church as a rule of thumb, even though I don’t go to church. Always be on your best behavior!

Look at the bright side, at least you didn’t get a felony charge and loose the right to own a firearm. There has been several posts like that in the last year or so

I hope this isn't taken the wrong way, but dude, what were you thinking? IMHO how long you have to wait to get your CHL back is way down the list of things you should be worried about. It would appear that you have reached a major crossroad in your life. The decisions you make now carry much greater consequences than losing a CHL. I hope and pray that you make the right decisions and demonstrate the ability to make much better life choices. There is much more on the line than a CHL.

Long story but I guess I should explain so you guys dont think I am an idiot, I rode with friends to a club for my sil's b-day and my wife met me up there later that night in my truck so I didnt think or have a chance to remove my pistol, we left the club and went right next door to whataburger to sleep it off because I knew I shouldnt be driving, next thing I knew I awoke to police dragging me out of my truck and upon searching it they found my buddy's marijuana container from the night before which I had no idea was in there, and of course my FN 5.7, I know I am lucky considering the circumstances, thanks for your help.

Sounds to me like the OP took a few chances, got in trouble while trying to sober up (good on him for not driving) and is not complaining about anything... he's taking responsibility for what went wrong. Good on him. Lessons are sure to be learned without preaching from me.

I get enough unsolicited advice from my brother, thank you very much. :grumble

I thought that being intoxicated and had a firearm on you that it became a felony weapons charge. About the only time that I don't carry is when we go out and I even think that I might have more than one beer.

If you are not a troll, you sure do sound like one. If not, then my apologies, but what would someone who went thru the time and expense to obtain their CHL be doing carrying into a club, drinking while carrying, and then having to "sleep it off?" I won't even address the drugs, whoever they belonged to. Such behavior is the nightmare of those of us who respect the effort others made to allow us our freedom and who strive to do it right.

The alleged actions you have posted would fit my personal definition of insanity. Of course I am starting to feel a little insane now just for posting on this thread....
