That was a shocking set of 911 tapes.

All anti's should listen to how fast that nice old lady was killed by the intruder.
She was ON THE PHONE with 911 and was still killed before the officers could arrive.

The other tape, where the man was breaking into the Virginia home, showed that the homeowner
was using admirable restraint while the crazed home invader was breaking in the patio door.

Even after repeated warnings from the GG, and being told that the GG had a gun, the BG broke
through the door and the GG had no choice but to put 2 rounds into his chest.
Scary, adrenalin-producing stuff right there.

I am a 911 dispatcher and I've worked similar calls. Luckly none where actual shots were fired, but I have been on the phone with the scared homeowners who's only defense against the man/men trying to kick her door in, is talking to me on the phone.

I can send help, which where I work can sometimes take 15-20 minutes to get there, but that's it. To hear someone so helpless pleading with me to make the cops get there faster...it's something. I don't look forward to being on the phone when someone does get in and the caller gets killed because their only defense is a phone. I feel for my fellow 911 dispatchers who do have to take these calls.

I made a decision that I would do everything in my power to not be that person. I carry 24/7 unless I'm at work. I carry when I'm at home. It's almost unreal how fast home invasions happen...there is no time to run past the BG's to get to the shotgun/handgun in the bedroom. I hope and pray that I don't ever have to pull that trigger, but if I have to may my aim be straight and true.
