I first applied for my CHL,along with my parents, in 1999. It took 36 day's, to get my first CHL. In the next four years, I became a LEO, and was able to renew, using the police exemption. The second time, as near as I can recall, took about 45 days.
However this time, has been plauged with problems. After about 30 days, I got a letter saying my app. was not complete. I called, and this girly on the phone told me I didn't send all my stuff. I told her I was an active duty LEO, and sent all that was needed. Not so she said, I need this,this,ect. I read her the statute, and she put me on hold. turns out you can apply and get a LEO exemption, but you can't renew as an LEO, using the exemption.?? I told her I had renewed once before, using the exemption, and , get this, she told me I was mistaken. I havent heard or got anything in the mail, since she and I hung up on each other, and it's been about 60 days. Oh well
