You can disable the fingerprint requests at Sea World..

Post by TxSheepdog »

It irked me a bit that Sea World asked for my fingerprint the first time we went with a season pass. I stuck my finger in the reader without thinking. Then I found out you can just show your DL and they will let you in. :banghead: Probably no big deal, but still..

Went again the first time this season. I showed my DL and declined the fingerprint. They told me guest services can uncheck the box on your ticket profile that prompts them for a fingerprint when you enter (default is always). They shouldn't ask me next time, but I will have to show photo ID.

Why would they ask you for a fingerprint unless they already had something to compare it to? Do they ask you to provide one when purchasing a season pass or are they expecting that first visit to be when you provide the print?

They check a photo id the first time they take a print. I'm assuming so you can come back without your wallet, maybe to go to the waterpark etc. Don't know.

I think they do that with season passes to prevent sharing.

I'm currently in the middle of deploying some biometric (i.e. fingerprint) access controls.

We've done extensive research regarding fingerprints. I cannot speak to Sea World's system, but the one we will be installing changes fingerprints to binary code. Each time the print is then read, it matches it back to the binary code on file. It does NOT keep an image of the print on file.....

That guy? Seen him for years, but had no idea what his name was. Looks too close to Janet Reno.

If you stuck your finger into the reader the first time, there is no reason to refuse after that since they already have what you don't want them to have.

:iagree:

Just because it may be coded to some binary (non image) library system doesn't mean it won't match a latent print picked up randomly and coded through the same system...

Private data is not protected by law. We give information all the time. Just give something away and we fill out the form. Date of birth, city of birth, mother name, father name , children's name, wife name, address, nu mber of guns, eat meat, hunt, hunting license ....... Fingerprints are just more data. :totap: :headscratch Where does the data go? :totap:
