A new, perhaps less intrusive approach to OC in Texas

Post by Originalist »

Ok, I was perusing OC.org and the conversation of OC in Texas re-emerged (imagine that, right...). There was this gentleman who appears to have thought the idea through with the idea of garnering TSRA and other's support while trying to limit the effects on CHL laws, etc. The one thing he and I discussed was the proposed 30.07 section and how any sign should be sufficient to ban OC, especially unlicensed OC as this bill would authorize (as it has been thoroughly discussed the need to seperate OC/CC with respect to 30.06, etc). I don't think a seperate large sign would go over either (as proposed), thoughts? I suggested making any sign (i.e. gunbuster) lawfully sufficient as you can OC w/o a license therefore 30.06 wouldn't apply and, if I am reading correctly, it takes the bite out of 30.05 too... Any thoughts, suggestions, etc would be greatly appreciated... I am not a big activist nor am I versed in all things Texas politics but I would like to see some form of OC, with the support of a majority of CHL's as well. This bill is nowhere near as extensive as Rep. Lavender's bill and seems to make the CHL exactly what it should be, a license to carry a concealed hangun.

I even think the bill (as I read it) still provides some "greater" permissions for CHL holders, like walking past the unlicenses possession signs....

Like I said, just throwing this out as I know there are lots of experienced, knowledgeable people here, some of which would advocate for OC if certain criteria were met.... TIA.....
