Texas Implications?

Post by jimlongley »

This recent ruling in IL might just affect those of us who choose to have TSRA license plates (or any other for that matter.)

I hadn't thought about it this way, but I have to agree. At least we can still have our bumper and window stickers.

The ruling was in U.S. District Court in Illinois. I'm pretty sure it can't affect Texas, because it's in a different circuit.

[Later] We already have "God bless America," "God bless Texas," and religious organizations. No one in Texas has gotten excited about those.

I didn't realize how many specialty plates were available. List here.

you're right, Jim, it was in the court for Illionis, but they relied heavily on other district court decisions and the 5th might do the same if such a suit ever came up.

All it is is a source of revenue for that state...

And since technically Texans mount those license plate "border" frames around the plates anymore...These "activist" state sponsored plates should not be done away with...

I don't have one, but I've kinda been on the lookout for a LP that simply tells the world (that gives a rats) that I am an American by birth and a Native Texan by the grace of God!

Something with the Alamo (in the forground), and a simple backgound with the Texas state flag on it would be just peachy for me...

But that is as far as my vanity goes...

If someone wants to sport an LP that says I like to kill babies in the womb (or barely out of it), or some other "pro-choice" slogan...To each his own...
