The US Navy is four years away from having laser cannons. Hehehehehe... "Scotty, divert engine power to the weapons array!" I am such a nerd...

All right!!!
Not too surprised with having nuclear reactors on board to supply the power and all.

Those rail guns are pretty cool too!

That's interesting because one of the fighter pilot's motto's is "speed is life."

They need to incorporate some kind of rifling mechanic. Without any twist the projectile looks like a third grader trying.g to pass a football

Awesome. I am puzzled by the fire following the rail gun projectile. It shouldn't be using any propellant - but it is probably a result of the tremendous heat generated by the EM forces. Impressive.

There's no easy way to do that. The projectile rides on rails. They could twist the rails into a double helix, but I think they're still struggling with keeping the rails from collapsing so that problem needs to get solved first.

Yeah, kinda scary...

I haven't forgotten them, I just like not having to reload until all the nuclear reactor fuel is spent. What is it, 25 years worth of fuel onboard? Of course that'll get shortened if the demand goes up, but I bet it'll still get you through the battle.

My son's jealous. The surface ships get all the cool toys. He's stuck with Trident D5s. Here's one launched from his ship back in February.
