The US Navy is four years away from having laser cannons. Hehehehehe... "Scotty, divert engine power to the weapons array!" I am such a nerd...

They need to incorporate some kind of rifling mechanic. Without any twist the projectile looks like a third grader trying.g to pass a footballsugar land dave wrote:Don't forget the rail gun!

There's no easy way to do that. The projectile rides on rails. They could twist the rails into a double helix, but I think they're still struggling with keeping the rails from collapsing so that problem needs to get solved first.psijac wrote:They need to incorporate some kind of rifling mechanic. Yeah, kinda scary...terryg wrote:Awesome. I am puzzled by the fire following the rail gun projectile. It shouldn't be using any propellant - but it is probably a result of the tremendous heat generated by the EM forces. Impressive.
I haven't forgotten them, I just like not having to reload until all the nuclear reactor fuel is spent. What is it, 25 years worth of fuel onboard? Of course that'll get shortened if the demand goes up, but I bet it'll still get you through the battle.sugar land dave wrote:Don't forget the rail gun!
