I would like to propose an amendment to this bill...for those who do not have the wherewithal to run away fast enough, it is preferable to drop and tuck into the fetal position so as not to further encumber or confound your attacker.

Garlic.

If the State converts a right into a privilege, the citizen can ignore the license and fee and engage in the right with impunity. -- Shuttleworth v. City of Birmingham

Isnt in the case in the UK as well? I seem to remember reading some articles that summed up some UK home invasions something like this: Thug breaks into home, homeowner/resident defends self with fists/baseball bat/anything, homeowner goes to jail for assault.

Absolute insanity.

Exactly the way it is there. I know many Britts (who live there) and they hate it too.

The problem is that they, and others, keep electing the same Bloomberg idiots (Freudian slip intended)
They apparently don't hate it enough to want to do something about it. Or perhaps, like many of our political contests here, there are no real choices on the matter. All of the candidates agree with the same stupidity.
