Ruger 10/22 TD (Take Down)

We have been getting some of the new Ruger 10/22 TD's over the past 2 weeks as they are starting to become available more frequently. Personally I really like this rifle and the concept. Ruger also includes a great carrying case for it which can easily be used as a backpack for hiking. Assembly takes seconds and breakdown is the same, cleaning should be a breeze as well. I have not taken one out to shoot yet as people are putting their names on them as fast as they arrive, one of these days I will run to the range and see if there is any difference between this model and my wife;s synthetic and stainless 1 piece although I doubt there will be.

I did not take the time to crop the pic's or mess with photoshop, just wanted to show what it actually looks like and see what others thoughts are. I do wonder if Ruger will attempt something similar with the mini 14, that would be really cool!!!!

I got to shoot one of these last weekend (my son-in-law just purchased one) and I though it shot just as well as my 40-year-old classic 10/22. It looks like they have a winner with the design here. It is lots of fun to shoot (like any 10/22). I was impressed with the ease of assembly/disassembly. It is certainly much easier to clean than the standard 10/22.

...it would indeed be interesting to see a Ranch rifle in this design...I don't think they could make enough of them...

It's about time. Marlin has been selling their Papoose as fast as they can make them.
I may have to have one of these too. Sure like that case being good for more than just the gun.

its a good idea for a 22 but anything bigger...I would say NO unless I had big bucks to buy a good one

BTW, I got (and immediately sold) one 10/22 takedown rifle -- the customer was a VERY happy camper! He send me some pics of the accuracy of it. I'll see if I can get him to share them here.

I've handled one and it's pretty cool. It takes down and goes back together pretty much as does the much revered Model 12 pump shotgun of yesteryear.

I think it's better put together than the Henry. I'm particularly unimpressed with the plastic front sight on a Henry. On the other hand, the Henry is more compact and lighter. I think theyu both serve their purpose -- the Henry is a very compact .22LR survival rifle, the 10/22 is a good version of the 10/22 in a takedown style.

I like the idea and looks of the Ruger 10-22 takedown, would be nice to play with one.
I have a Ducks Unlimited model of the 10-22, very nice shooting 22 rifle. But I always go back to my Browning 22 Auto rifle, it just shoots very nice for me. If I want to go 22 plinking, I grab my Browning 22 auto and my Browning 6" barrel Nomad 22 and get after it.
They are some nice plinking toys...

I'll have to pick one of the Ruger Takedown rifles when the dust settles some.
They seem to be selling very fast to grab one...

The last rifle I bought was a 10/22. I already had a SS/synthetic. I saw a new 10/22 at a gun show with a beautiful walnut stock and fish-scale checkering. I didn't know they could make a 10/22 that pretty. So I had to have it, $357 . Now I'll probably have to get the takedown to match the papoose - which I have yet to shoot!

I got mine for $319. Got it out to the range yesterday. Goes together tight, no wobble what so ever and shot really well. It is a definate keep. I got a Golden Boy last week as well and had it out also. I wasn't as impressed with it as I was the Ruger.
