Have TX CHL, moved to OK, what now?
Can someone outline the steps I need to take?
It is my understanding that all I will be able to keep my TX CHL and that is essentially becomes a non-resident permit once I change the address thru TXDPS. I will carry a TX CHL and OK DL and will be fine as long as the addresses match? Do I need to notify anyone on Oklahoma that I have a CHL?
Thanks!

not to my knowledge; you just have to abide by their laws
Some parents say it is toy guns that make boys warlike. But give a boy a rubber duck and he will seize its neck like the butt of a pistol and shout "Bang!"......George Will

I don't think you need to notify anyone in OK that you have a TX CHL except for the same reasons you would need to notify anyone here in Texas. However, I would get an OK permit, whatever they are called because there could be issues within school zones if you are parking to go in the school and leaving your gun in the vehicle. I don't know OK's school policy, so that point might be moot. I would still go through OK's process and get their permit. JMHO

I'd stop off at the local gun shop and have a chat with the proprietor. He can give you pointers on what is or is not legal, where to look on the state web page, who to take a class from, and all the in's and out's. In any event, as you get settled in, get an Oklahoma license.

What gun shops do you visit? Your proprietors seem a lot more knowledgeable than mine. They're usually too busy telling someone about the awesome stopping power of a Taurus Judge or why a 5 shot .357 is the only gun for a woman to pontificate on various legalities.gdanaher wrote:I'd stop off at the local gun shop and have a chat with the proprietor. OP, your Texas CHL will be valid as long as you change the address.
Just for fun, found a website you should check out: http://www.ok.gov/osbi/Concealed_Weapons_Licensing/
That has everything regarding Oklahoma laws on self defense/carry, how to apply for an OK CHL, etc. Might be a tad more trustworthy than a local gun shop proprietor.

I would recommend that you realize the huge error that you made and get back to Texas as fast as you can.

If I were moving from Texas to another state I would change both my DL and CHL to conform to the state I was living in. I just think it would make things simpler.
