BATON ROUGE -- A proposed constitutional amendment that would limit the Legislature's ability to restrict gun rights cleared the House on Thursday. Senate Bill 303 now heads back to the upper chamber so senators can consider substantial amendments made by a House panel that alter the language of the bill but leave in place the concept of granting Second Amendment rights the benefit of "strict scrutiny," a legal term that creates a high bar for any restrictions.
the Mansfield Democrat said he wants assurances that "you cannot bring your weapon on campus where my daughter attends and you can't carry a gun when that preacher is up there preaching."
I'd want assurances that "you" law abiding citizen... could, which might deter a criminal from doing so, or stop a criminal which does

I guess he doesn't mind if "thugs" carry their weapons around his daughter on campus since he has no way of knowing who they are. Just not background-checked and generally law-abiding CHLers... :banghead:
