WTB - Ruger Mark III Hunter - Stainless

Post by TXMojo »

Looking for a Ruger Mark III Hunter (Stainless fluted 6 7/8) as the first gun for my young daughter to learn how to properly handle a firearm.

New or used. (Used would have to be in very good condition.)

I live in the Houston area but would not mind a road trip/adventure with my little angel.

I see new ones offered for $490, but am looking for a local seller, if possible.

I think that's an excellent choice. I have found that the problem trying to buy a Ruger pistol is that there are so many variations available it is difficult to find the exact model that you want. I suggest you try Academy, Carter's Country, etc. If you don't have any luck with them, try Buds. I haven't done any business with them, but they seem to have good prices and a good selection. With the price of shipping and FFL transfer fee, it may be more economical to buy locally at the Arms Room, Collector's Firearms, etc.

I have a Ruger Mark III 22/45, and it is a great gun to shoot and practice with.
the only negative I have with it, is loading the magazines, well, until i picked up http://www.midwayusa.com/product/523189 ... ymer-clear" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Collector's always has a really good selection of Ruger .22's, both old and new. You might also check with Carroll's Guns in Wharton.

Same gun my 10yo daughter likes. She also like the M&P 15-22, which I bought for her and will give her next week. That Ruger might be her first handgun for Christmas this year. We'll see how the first half of 5th grade goes.
