Awkward

Post by nyj »

Say you're listing a gun on TGT and get an email from someone wanting it. They say they live in your same town, and you look them up on FB, and come to find out, he looks EXACTLY like the guy that just moved in across the street last week. I'm in a small town with only one LARGE subdivision.

I'm all for making new friends, but ya'know, I'm a little hesitant to get back with him.

Why? Might be a great time to meet a new neighbor, find a new shooting buddy, have a friend who can keep an eye out if you are out of town, etc.

Those are my thoughts, but something feels awkward about it. Maybe it's just the strange coincidence of having your new neighbor find your ad on a statewide classified system.

Stranger things have happened. Really.

Talk about strange things - similarly to your situation.
When I sent my packet off, I also joined this forum.

Another member who was also new about the same time, knew I was new and suggested I read one of Massad Ayoob's books.
Come to find out, this guy lives in Webster, just like me, then we drilled down, we live in the same subdivision, then to make it stranger, we like 8 doors apart.

Our licenses arrived on the same day to boot!
Oh,he also introduced me to PSC - a Great Place to be a member!

BTW, does he know it's you?

Unless there's some reason you don't want to meet him I see no problem. A couple of weeks ago I saw my 'across the street neighbor' as I walked my dog. He and his wife moved in about 6 months ago. I don't see him much, but had been meaning to warn him about parking his truck opposing traffic. We have some neighborhood ne'redowells that drive like banshees. One totaled my Suburban, ( hitting it so hard it ended up on the treelawn). Anyway he told me he parked that way so his CCW wouldn't get seen as he walked to the front door :headscratch (I didn't ask) Besides learning he is a CHL I found out they recently joined our church! I'd do a deal with him!

Think how he'll feel if he finds out one of his new neighbors checked him out on Facebook.

I do that to everyone I have a transaction with...just in case :smilelol5:

Apparently the guy is active military, so if I hear back from him, I'll refer him to our local gun store where he can buy the same gun I'm selling for a hundred bucks less with his gov. discount.
