new to forum with a ton of questions...
Just wanted to introduce myself. Im originally from Texas and joined the navy thinking i would be a sailor.... wrong the recruiter said i would be a medic on hospitals and ships, he forgot to mention id be stationed with marines in iraq too!!! Did my first tour with the marines and loved it.... reinlisted and worked in a hospital with females and officers its been a long hard road looking back. And the years just flew by. And here i am stationed in north Carolina and just got my texas CHL.

welcome and this site will give you a little taste of home
Some parents say it is toy guns that make boys warlike. But give a boy a rubber duck and he will seize its neck like the butt of a pistol and shout "Bang!"......George Will

If you are a corpsman in NC--you must be at Lejeune!!--Been there-done that--early 70's. Be careful--one of those Marines followed me home & has hung around for 37 years!

Re: new to forum with a ton of questions...
Im sure i finally found a forum that can answer my question about the legality of carrying up here... i dont want to go to jail or ge pistol impounded.... instead of using a texas drivers license to get my chl i used a texas id card, both of them have my texas address. But while i was stationed here i bought a car and had to get a north Carolina drivers licence that obviously has a different address, NC and TX have reciprocity with chl. So is it legal for me to carry until i get out of the military and either go back to the great state of texas and not have to worry about anything. Dont even ask about why dont you just get the NC chl..... the base and sheriff have an order to were its nearly impossible to get one. I tried for almost 2 months straight getting ran around circles and jumping through hoops before i gave up.

My SIL is based in NC as well. I looked at the NC concealed carry laws because my daughter was thinking about gettin a CHL. NC passed not too long ago a statute that says that they will recognize all other State concealed carry laws. Looking at that and a few other things, I came to the conclusion that legally a "Texas resident" like you could carry in NC but that individual sheriffs might very well give you a hard time. I don't know what your sheriff would do.
I do know that my SIL does carry when he is not deployed.
Hope this helps some.

Welcome to the forum.
A friend of mine's son is a corpsman and was also assigned to a Marine unit. You don't have a twin brother do you?

Lol, no twin brothers... but my little brother was stationed here for 2 years which was cool.... he was stationed in japan so he only good for kickin boxes and doing inventory. The reason i was concerned about carrying was i would be showing 2 texas ids with one address and 1 NC license...

As longs as NC recognizes the TX CHL and your not doing something illegal in NC you should be fine.corpsmanup wrote:Lol, no twin brothers... but my little brother was stationed here for 2 years which was cool.... he was stationed in japan so he only good for kickin boxes and doing inventory.
