Grandfather Oak Pocket XL for M&P 40c review.

I am a guy who loves options. One day, more out of curiosity than anything else, I stuck my M&P compact into my pocket. To my surprise, it fit quite well. To be fair, I am a bit of a bigger guy and I am not certain that this method would be suitable for all.

Initially, I stuck it into my desantis nemisis I have for my lc9, after a bit of stretching, it worked quite well. There were some issues though. The gun is a bit bulky and the nemisis further added to this with its padding. The trigger was also not ENTIRELY covered. Lastly, I'm a sweater and in the Dallas heat I was really slathering the weapon with leg funk.

After waiting a bit(several months) longer than expected, my new kydex pocket holster arrived from Grandfather Oak. It is thin, light, adds basically no bulk, sweatproof and completely encases the trigger. I had specified in an email that I wanted the sweat shield to cover the slide completely. For $25, I couldnt be happier.

An addendum, the retention is good but not such that it cannot be drawn cleanly. I suppose it could be said that this aspect is the beauty of the holster. It is obviously hand made. A knowledgeable set of hands tuned this holster with care, perfectly balancing ease of draw with adequate retention. I still carry mostly IWB in a galco king tuk, but for quick jaunts and going to work where I must leave it locked in my car, this is a great option. I love it!
