Can Anyone Explain This Odd Phenomena

Post by Medic218 »

I was getting a snack last night and after I poured myself a nice tall glass of milk I guess I didn't put the cap back on very well and it started acting odd....
Can anyone explain what was happening or is my milk jug possessed?

It's called the Ideal Gas Law. Gases expand and contract with changes in temperature.

This is easy to explain. YOU did not make this happen- SOMEONE ELSE DID! :biggrinjester:

The ice-cold air in the jug expanded as it warmed, forcing the cap upward to release the additional volume.

Possibly with the aid of a small film of milk to make a small "bubble" effect, but yeah apostate and WildBill have it dead on, it is the cold air inside the bottle warming up and moving the lid to escape.

Edit to remove something that I thought implied that it is a level of physics, but might have sounded rude. Don't intend to offend anyone.

Okay geniuses, I don't have film of this but a long time ago I had put several bottles of water in the freezer but a lot of them never solidifed. What was cool (no pun intended) was I would take one, just compress the side lightly and when I released it it instantly crystallized...it was like having powers. No one has ever been able to explain it adequately. Any takers?

FWIW, I got the ideal gas law. Been a long time since I even thought of stuff like that.
