The TSA: Now harassing Americans outside the airports

Is it just me, or is anyone else completely sick of the TSA's invasion of privacy? Over the last several years I have cut down on the number of flights I have taken because I was tired of being pulled out of line and patted down or having my bags taken apart (having an inept TSA agent handle 10K in high-end photo equipment about gives me a heart attack every time). While I do think something still needs to be in place to screen airports and passengers, I don't think the TSA is the answer.
Apparently the TSA is now giving itself the job of patting down the rest of America outside the airports.
"As we have previously documented, airport security style checkpoints and inspection procedures are already in place at bus terminals, train stations, and are rapidly being expanded to the streets of America.
Agents have even been spotted roaming around at public events such as sports games and music concerts, and even at high school proms.
The TSA even moved beyond its own borders this summer as agents were dispatched to airports in London for the Olympic Games."
The rest of the story is here:
http://www.infowars.com/tsa-rifles-thro ... yan-event/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
So this begs the question: as CHL holder, if you were traveling and stopped by the TSA on the highway at a check point (like they got involved with in TN last year) or at an event where TSA showed up to screen people and it is assumed that it is lawful to carry at said event, are you going to be obliged to 1) consent to a search 2) have your gun confiscated or 3) return to your car and leave your gun so it is not confiscated?
"If people think they can avoid the TSA by staying away from airports, they’re going to be in for a rude awakening. TSA is clearly engaged in a total takeover of society and plans to have its agents searching, patting down, scanning and harassing Americans at all levels of society, not just at transport hubs but at public events, in the street and on highways and roads across the country."
So if you were stopped at a highway checkpoint by the TSA, by law would you have to let them search the vehicle? Wouldn't that be considered and unlawful search without probably cause? Outside of an airport security line, can you say no to the TSA? Unless I am at an airport, hell would freeze over before I consented to let the TSA search my belongings or pat me down. I am really sick of government intrusions into my life.

Sorry for the ranting, the TSA pat downs I have received are still fresh in my mind.

I would not let them search my car, and as I understand it, they are not law enforcement, so I have no reason to disclose that I am carrying a weapon if approached outside of the airport security area.

They are not cops. Trying to search without my consent is battery.

Zactly...but they think they are cops. If you tried walking through an airport checkpoint without complying, you would be tackled and detained in one of their little TSA rooms. I want to know what rights they think they have if I say "No. And not only that but Hell No." and proceed through one of their out of airport checkpoints?
With so many govt agencies staffing their own armed police forces, I kinda makes me wonder why the TSA hasn't started their own little police force. I wonder if this reach outside the airport will produce any changes to TSA staff or procedures.

No cop, no compliance.

Well, if they had their own little police force, possibly they'd come to your neighbor's house in the middle of the night wearing full riot gear, carrying full-auto rifles, bust their door down with a battering ram, shoot the family pet, butt-stroke the oldest male in the family, handcuff everyone else with those giant zip-ties, rummage through the house and tear everything up, then realize they have the wrong house and say something like "Sorry, tough luck"...well, that's what the BATFE does, anyway...
(Sorry about the threadjack, just couldn't help myself)

Groping people in public is a great way to get yourself shot in Texas. I'm honestly surprised they aren't regularly shot yet.

Yeah, no kidding. For that matter, I'm surprised there haven't been any fights at airports over their tactics.

Well, there was the "don't touch my junk guy" --> arrested
The woman who groped back --> arrested
And many others who were arrested or otherwise had their lives made miserable after resisting.
Even our own Texas Legislature backed down when they tried to make some of the TSA's tactics illegal in our great state.
The lesson has been loud and clear: the TSA has unquestionable power. Scary.

It was Dewhurst and a few spineless senators that backed down.

TSA was "assisting" the secret service with security at a Romney event the other day.

Easy fix for this when we get Republican control back. Just allow all of the airports the option of having private security; several airports do that right now. Then, once the airports switch over (and they will), dump the TSA.

I would love to see that, but our President did something recently, to cement the program (or at least the employees) when he allowed them to unionize.
Now how do you let them go?

So, no business has ever folded because its workers were unionized? I know what you are saying, its the government. But if we don't need them, then we don't need them. And if Mr. Romney is as good at shutting down unprofitable businesses as the media makes him out to be, well, I'm sure he'll figure out a way.
