Match Status: PSC-IDPA February Match

Post by Charles L. Cotton »

The weather forecast is not encouraging, but it's not as bad as it has been the last two days. There is a 40% chance of rain until 10:00 am when it increases to 50%, according to Weather.com. A 15 mph wind is also in the forecast.

This type of forecast is a worst-case scenario for us. It’s basically a “may rain, may not situation. If it’s raining when I get up tomorrow morning, I’ll post a match cancellation notice on TexasCHLforum.com, TexasIDPA.com in the PSC-IDPA forum section, and on the PSC-IDPA website. If it starts raining during set-up, I will not be able to post anything as we don’t have Internet access at the range. (That’s coming soon!)

So, there you have it folks. That’s all we know at this time.

The weather forecast is looking better. Weather.com now shows a 30% chance of isolated thunderstorms until 2:00 pm when the chances rise to 40%.

Of course, if we get hit with a thunderstorm, we have a problem, but things are looking up.

 Got up at 5:00, showered, packed my gear, had breakfast, and watched the unfavorable radar. Despite the pretty much continuous light rain up in the northwest where I am, I headed out at 6:00. By the time I got to the Beltway from 290, the rain was steady. As I passed I-10 it got pretty hard, and stayed that way. Finally, with heavy heart, I exited at 90, turned around, and came back home...raining all the way.

I hope Friendswood/Alvin is spared long enough for the match to happen. I'll just have to be content to get some practice dry-firing at the evil weather radar sweep on TV...

The match is still on. It just started raining, but the range is set up and we going to shoot.

Drat. I blew it. I should have driven the last 30 miles, rain or no rain.

Yup skiprr shoulda stayed in the fight. Barely any wet at all during or even after the match.

Learned my lesson. I went back today and checked the rainfall totals for Saturday, and where I live not far from Jersey Village we got .91 inches, and I think most of that was while I was on the Beltway headed south. PSC looks like it recorded .04 inches...barely a couple minutes' drizzle. From now on, unless Charles or Marc posts "cancelled," I'll be there with my rain gear, even if I end up stuck in the mud on Sportsman Club Road. ;-)

I'd told Charles I would show up early to help with set-up. Now I owe him two set-up volunteer days.

And nice shootin' to those who were there: http://www.cottonfamily.com/psc-idpa/Sc ... -24-07.htm. I'm impressed, especially with the wind.

And just so Kinny Lee can't dodge a moment of fame, check this out: http://www.cottonfamily.com/psc-idpa/Sc ... -07acc.htm.

I agree......Kinny and ElGato shot an amazing match!

Kinny had his 1911 out just to remind me on how to hit the targets (I think he had done that plenty last time we shot steel plates together  )

Kinny- I hope you are proud of this!.......one point down in an 8 stage match is a big accomplishment!

And:

Since modesty does not permit Jason to point it out, I'd like to congratulate him on his 1st place in SSP Marksman with a time of 108.07

Good Job.

I feel your pain. Danny just laughed at me when I told him I got a procedural. He said he can just see my thought process going when I drew that procedural.
