Me thinks if your file goes to the wrong processor it may take longer. It's like getting in line to pay at the grocery store....sometimes you get a competent cashier and sometimes you get a democrat.

Don't give up, it will happen or you will get a letter explaining why not.

Still nothing....
and no response from DPS other than "everything looks good, call back in 2 weeks"

I'm on day 60, day 48 of background check. :grumble

That's slower than average these days but still within 90 days and a lot better than four years ago.

Also, it's only 55 days since 7-26-2012 and 40 days since 8-10-2012.

You know what? You're right. That's my pessimistic math that my wife complains about.
I was looking at the wrong date.

"rlol" I just found something quite funny. My brother, who took his class 2 weeks after me, then sent his packet in a whole week later, then got a flag on his status that his photos weren't good enough, then went to Kinkos the following week to have his photos Re-done, then mailed them off, then waited 2 weeks for DPS to acknowledge...his status just updated to mailed. So yes, after all that he's still going to get his before me. Grrrr...

It really is amazing how some applicants fly through the process and others are stuck in a traffic jam from hell. Clearly it is all about the individual who processes the application. The Republican DPS workers don't screw around and get things processed quickly, the Democrat workers conveniently "lose" paperwork or take lots of breaks. ;-)

I've been amazed on how long things have taken on my application and some of my friends that mailed in after me already have their plastic. Just luck of the draw...

Does anyone know how many people DPS has answering their phone number? I've called 4 times for one reason or another over the past few months(check on status, provide additional info, followup at their request, etc.) and I always get the same guy. I wonder if I'm "tied" to him by calling from the same number. Just seemed kind of odd.

Oh, still no update by the way.

If on September 10, you were at 53 days (is that days since they actually received it, or you mailed it?)
Then today you are on day 67.

If the timing is accurate, then they should now (as it is after 60 days) give you some indication of the problem, right?

if you feel you are getting the run around, you may want to contact your local congressman, or even possibly Charles Cotton may have some insight, he always seems to know more than the rest of us!

DPS updated to everything received on July 26th. So, they've had everything for exactly 60 days. It updated to Background check on August 10th, and it's been that way ever since.
All they've been able to tell me up until today was that "everything looked fine, call back in two weeks."
Today, the guy told me he'd email the tech to tell them that I called. So we'll see if that actually happens.

I think they try to do it right and at 60, they need to escalate the report (as they said they would do)
you should have answers, or letter(s) in your mailbox in a week with details of what is missing or delaying the situation

Good luck to you on that!

it is possible it was stuck on someone's desk, and kept getting piled on, and the 60th day, they had to react, found it and pushed it forward.

Sorry you were the unlucky one to have this happen to, but glad it is finally progressing on!`

That's exactly what I was thinking happened. I'm just now realizing how much that was stressing me out, now that it's done. The brooding feeling that someone is critiquing your past and determining your fate after spending the time and hard earned money really starts to get to you, especially when it takes longer than most.
It's a relief for sure.
