Nampa, ID LEO chestcams: Attacking dog is shot dead.

The above video is a combination of 2 LEO chestcams, worn by Nampa, Idaho LEO's.

The officers had gone to the house to check on the welfare of 2 juveniles. The dog's owner
doesn't answer the knock on the open door, but comes out after the shooting to complain to the LEO's.

It's kind of scary that the officer further away from the door appears to be drawing down on his partner,
and it's somewhat unclear which officer shoots the white dog. But I believe that the LEO who was being
directly attacked was the one who fired the fatal shots. The white dog had bitten through a Mace cannister
on the LEO's belt.

The dogs were a Mastiff/Pitbull mix and a Chesapeake/Pitbull mix. I don't know which one was which.

IMHO, I believe that the officer was in fear for his safety and killed the dog appropriately.

The Nampa PD has had 3 dog shootings by their LEO's in 5 years. 2 were wounded. This one was killed.

I'm a dog lover and hate to see one killed. But I don't see a lot of room for discussion here. Big dog chewing on the guy, looks like it was put it down or get eaten. His partner must be a Jerry Clower fan. (Just shoot up here amongst us.)
As far as blame goes, my first impulse is the homeowner. Even if they were originally inside, the doors were open. I'm really curious about why he wasn't responding to police, why the doors were open, and why the dogs weren't properly restrained.

It kind of looked like the owner released the dogs at some point.

I believe the homeowner let the dogs out deliberately.

I also noticed he made zero effort to call the dogs off. The first words out of his mouth were to protest after the dog was shot. Until then, silence.

And yes, of course the shooting was justified.

Actually, with the sound of the dogs barking getting closer and the door open, I would have expected the officer to have already drawn his handgun.
