Fire at Saudi wedding kills 23
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — Saudi media reports say a blaze that erupted inside a tent at a wedding in the country's east has killed at least 23 women and children.
The media cite civil defense officials as saying that celebratory gunfire, common at weddings, brought down a power line that touched off the fire late Tuesday in the Eastern Province.

I assume the men were firing the guns, but it was the women and children who died. The women and men are segregated at the wedding. Previously in 1999, 77 people died in Saudi when a disgruntled wife set fire to the wedding tent.

I say we need common sense wedding laws, it's for the children.

Maybe they thought the laws of gravity were temporarily suspended during a wedding.

Well, liquor and pork BBQ is not involved. It must be something else.

I never heard of this happening in Texas, so it must be something else. ;-)

I've seen three people come through the ER I worked in who were struck by bullets falling out of the sky from so far away that nobody heard the shot. They resulted in absolutely devastating injuries. I would not oppose the imposition of draconian punishments on such a perpetrator.

Note that the women who were killed were electrocuted when they tried to get out the door. The power line had electrified the metal door and door frame. I don't know if it was panic or something else.
