I appreciate your sentiment, but most of the voters in the affected states have voted to eliminate THEIR gun rights, and have voted for candidates to national office whose desire it is to eliminate MY gun rights.

I would be a lot more charitably predisposed toward them, if they were less inclined to trample on my rights. They've voted for a big government to rescue them from all things. Far be it from me to get in the way of government doing its job now.

I don't mean to be callous, but I am very much against enabling addicts. A little pain is good for their souls. I feel badly for them. I really do. BUT, although they didn't vote for a storm to come along and wreck their lives, they DID vote for an inefficient and out of touch government to run their lives for them. The longer they have to suffer under the delusion that they have no responsibility for their own wellbeing because government is going to ride to their rescue, the more deeply they will come to realize that not only is government not predisposed to do so, but that neither is it efficient enough to do so when public opinion finally overcomes the inertia of government sloth.

If I had any friends or family who were individually suffering due to the storms, I would definitely offer to help them in any way I could. But I won't blindly give to people who have as much regard for me and my rights as the Taliban does.

If that makes me a jerk, so be it. They elected the Jerk in Chief.

TAM you missed the joke... the "Disaster" in question happened ON ELECTION DAY... as in the tragedy is who was elected. Donate to the NRA to help them offer relief to those who are effected by the new leadership's desire to take away our gun rights...

Don't worry, I had to read the OP's post a couple times before it sunk in.

But seriously, everyone out there, the NRA seems to have a good deal going on. I don't know what mailing list I got on but I got a package from them offering a year membership for $25 with a free range bag and magazine subscription. I've been looking for a range bag... so why not have one that says NRA on it? Maybe I'll use it as my carry on on the plane :biggrinjester: this thanksgiving?

Mind if I ask what the 'campaignid' is for that offer?

I don't see a campaign ID on it anywhere, it just said to go to nra.org/actnow and gave me a special offer code. The special offer code looks unique so I'm not sure it will work again. Once the charge for the membership has posted on my bank account I'll post the offer code.

Ah yes that looks like one use only. I was thinking of the different multi-use NRA advertisements/gifts. So far I have ads for "NRA's Rosewood Handle Pocket Knife", "NRA's Multi-Tool" and the NRA bullet pen.

Well, bummer for everyone who didn't get one. But that offer coupled with President Obama's Re-election got me to finally pull the trigger on membership
