Ruger SR22 opinions

Guys,
The missus and I are looking at getting another 22. We both have rifles (1 semi-auto, 1 bolt) and I have a 1911 conversion kit, but she has always expressed a preference for a stand-alone 22LR pistol. We have tried in the past a Sig Mosquito and a Ruger MarkIV. For various reasons of disappointment/frustration which I won't get into, we got rid of them.
This weekend we met a guy at the range with his new SR22. This was his first time shooting this particular gun. It took him about 20 rounds to adjust the sights, but otherwise he had 1 malfunction which appeared to be mag related. He the proceeded to shoot at the better part of 100 rounds without a problem. This was shooting cheapie Rem thunderbolt HP rounds as well. I shot it and it functioned fine, though the trigger is a tad odd. I guess I'm just used to single-action 1911s. The fit and finish appeared to be quite nice, and if you didn't know better, it looked like a regular centerfire pistol from a distance.
A couple of quick questions for you all's opinions:
- Are there any ongoing issues with this pistol that we'll discover after a few hundred rounds?
- Are the minimal amount of problems that the one I saw typical?
- Looks to be around $300 for the gun, right?
- How are the mag prices and availability?
Look forward to the input, gang.
