Do we even bother correcting lame duck?

As the name indicates, this is the place for gun-related political discussions. It is not open to other political topics.

Do we even bother correcting lame duck?

Post by A-R »

Quote from an Associated Press story
"I think we ought to be looking at where the real danger is, like those large clips," said Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas.
Do we even bother writing to blondie lame duck? Or maybe just an open letter to her, Cornyn, and newly elected Cruz saying if either of the other two has similar feelings they need to reconsider or we will reconsider them.

I've expressed my views to Cornyn and my Representative. A note to the new guy shouldn't hurt. As for her....meh. She'll be gone in a couple of weeks, won't she?

I dropped her a note at
http://hutchison.senate.gov/?p=email_kay" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(Well, I copy-pasted my post:
viewtopic.php?f=94&t=60567#p744231" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Reason:
Office staff reads/responds etc ... "new guy" could possibly retain some "office staff" from Blondie.

John's contact form is at
http://www.cornyn.senate.gov/public/ind ... ontactForm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I copy pasted it too

The problem is that they might attempt to force something through while she's still in office and able to vote on it........so for me, not really a "meh," but more like a "DON'T YOU DARE!!!!" I don't know what her future plans are, but if she votes in favor of a capacity limit while she still has the power to do so, she will pretty much close any future political doors to herself in Texas. So maybe she's angling for an ambassadorship, or president of an Ivy League school or something?

I wrote (emailed) to Rep. Kay Granger and Senator Cornyn recently, expressing my views about how useless I believe gun control to be. Ted Cruz has been noted as a defender of firearms rights, so I'm hoping that he will not need to be reminded of who he represents...and it ain't some gun-grabbing elites from a coastal enclave, either, like the departing Sen. Hutchison seems to think. :grumble

Your intentions are honorable; however, I suspect she will do whatever she wants to do without fear of reprisal. ITMT, how do we go about connecting with our new Senator?

I fired off letters to Pete Olson, Ted Cruz, John Cornyn and Kay Bailey Hutchison. I'm fit to be tied right now over her betrayal. Hopefully this fiscal cliff joke is enough of a distraction to at least postpone legislative activities until the next year.

A reply which is 100% opposite her ridiculous statements on TV about the real problem being the big clips- it's time the old lady retire, or change meds, or get educated, or retire
Dear Friend:
Thank you for contacting me regarding gun control legislation. I welcome your thoughts and comments on this issue.
While we all support the strongest measures to ensure that guns do not end up in the wrong hands, I believe that one of the most powerful deterrents we have is the consistent, full enforcement of the numerous laws that already address many aspects of the problem. For instance, there are more than a dozen laws at the state and federal level that deal with the use, carrying, ownership, or trafficking of guns, and we must prosecute without qualification those who violate these laws.
Rather than usurping the rights of law-abiding citizens, I believe we should vigorously prosecute those who use guns to commit crimes. I have worked to enact federal anti-crime legislation that imposes tough minimum sentences on those convicted of using firearms to commit crimes, prevents early parole for violent criminals, and provides federal funds to build new prisons and fund local law enforcement. I will continue to support legislation that fights crime and upholds our Second Amendment rights.
On June 26, 2008, the Supreme Court upheld the individual right to keep and bear arms in District of Columbia v. Heller. I submitted an amicus brief to the Court in support of affirming the District of Columbia's gun ban as unconstitutional, and was joined by 55 Senators, 250 House members, and the Vice President of the United States. This historic decision will affect gun laws throughout the country that try to unjustly undermine our rights under the Second Amendment.

I appreciate hearing from you, and I hope that you will not hesitate to keep in touch on any issue of concern to you.

Sincerely,
Kay Bailey Hutchison
United States Senator

I don’t really care if they make 30 round clips illegal. I don’t own any & I doubt you do either. If they start trying to make 30 round magazines illegal then I will be concerned.
