"Is that an ASSAULT rifle...?"

Post by chuckybrown »

Took a buddy today to Carter's Country to buy his first deer rifle. I suggested the larger 2 rifle case for his purchase, as he may acquire another in the future, or want to take his shotgun and his rifle sometime.

Aw we are walking to the car, an older lady is climbing into her car, and right as she is almost fully seated swivels her head and asks loudly "is that an ASSAULT rifle"? I hold up the A-Bolt rifle box and ask "this"? At this point she is getting out of her car and answered "no....THAT!"...pointing at the double rifle case my buddy is carrying,

He said "this is a deer rifle". She replied "ok, good..." and started back to her car. I then said "there is nothing wrong with black guns...".....which fell on deaf ears as she sat in her car.

We both laughed. I'm convinced that the little old lady was ready to confront us if we had an "assault" rifle....

Amazing how the media pollutes minds.....

I would have answered "That depends. If you're a deer or hog then, yeah, I guess so."

I'm not sure if I would have been able to resist an opportunity like that. Maybe I could have gone the smart-alec route and said something like "No, its a super-killer death ray"...but more likely I would have asked "And what if it is?" The IGNORANCE of some folks fires me up. :grumble

I'm usually nice to my elders, but in this case I think I would have told her to mind her own business.

I would have answered yes just to see her reaction.

I would have said no, assault rifles have been banned since 1934. It would have definitely been interested to hear what she might have said if your answer was yes tho. Maybe even just a question back, "and if it was?"

No, it's a ""street sweeping uzi mac-10 assault rifle shotgun with a 300 round clip and a shoulder thing that goes up."
