Now let's change the law so that these teachers can legally carry in our schools... and those of us with CHLs too.

Texas law already allows CHL's to carry in schools as long as the details are
fully specified in a policy. I don't remember which thread it's on, but someone had the exact law.

To my knowledge only the Harrold, Texas ISD (near the Red River in N. Texas)
has authorized their staff to carry within the school buildings.

SIA
N. Texas LTC's hold 3 breakfasts each month. All are 800 AM. OC is fine.
2nd Saturdays: Rudy's BBQ, N. Dallas Pkwy, N.bound, N. of Main St., Frisco.
3rd Saturdays: Golden Corral, 465 E. I-20, Collins St exit, Arlington.
4th Saturdays: Sunny St. Cafe, off I-20, Exit 415, Mikus Rd, Willow Park.

Well, maybe with teachers getting behind it, attitudes might begin to change a bit.

The El Paso article
http://www.elpasotimes.com/news/ci_2228 ... se-holders" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Many state legislators across the country are proposing changes to concealed handgun laws that would allow teachers to carry weapons on campus. In Texas, several legislators have said they would back bills that would allow teachers with concealed handguns, and Gov. Rick Perry has also said he thinks license holders should be allowed to carry their firearms everywhere.

According to Texas law, school districts can grant written permission for employees to carry firearms on campus. After the 2007 massacre by a gunman of 32 people at Virginia Tech, the superintendent of the Harrold Independent School District in Harrold, Texas, near Fort Worth, began allowing teachers to carry concealed guns to class.

Larry Arnold, director of the Texas Concealed Handgun Association, said that because the shootings in Aurora and Newtown happened in places where weapons are not allowed, laws should be expanded to allow handguns in most, if not all, locations.

"It indicates maybe conceal carry is a good thing," said Arnold, who also teaches concealed handgun license courses. "A lot of people I've seen are fairly knowledgeable about what's going on. They do their research, and my students know Connecticut is already the fifth most-regulated state. It's not working. What's working is eliminate the gun-free zone."

El Paso-area school district officials agree that proactive measures need to be taken but said allowing teachers and school administrators to bring handguns to school is not the answer.

Daniel Escobar, spokesman for the Socorro Independent School District, said administrators had been evaluating the district's security system and reassessing it to make sure that all schools and administrators receive training on how to react.
Whenever I see "is not the answer." I know they asked the wrong question.
If the question wasn't what makes me FEEEEEL good, comfy and safe, like if I could teach the World to sing in perfect harmony (not too realistic, but a nice dream), but if instead, the CORRECT QUESTION was asked "What is working" ... then, it in fact is the answer, as the article states.

I am thinking of running for my local school board in the next election on the platform of making it policy to allow teachers and CHL's to carry in schools.
