San Antonio visit

I am going to be visiting San Antonio in the coming weeks. I am in need of a good secure parking that provides access to the river walk. So we can eat and enjoy the area.
Handicap accessible is preferred.
maybe some local goods on the eateries there.

I'm sure they have places with guards but we always park in the garage above the USO and never had any problems.

The river walk isn't very handicap friendly. The sidewalks along the river are narrow and there is no fence or rail between the public and the river. Not that big of a deal unless you are uncomfortable around the water and crowds. You might want to look Here for accessibility info.

There are lots of other places and you can check out most menu's and places before going in and getting seated.

If you are going to stay overnight, DO NOT park on the street. You are almost guaranteed a break in.

Our favorite restaurants in San Antonio are Boudro's and Zinc. Las Canarias has the best Sunday brunch in the state, IMO.

These two are my favorite as well. Both are in close proximity to each other, and are wonderful places. You can park in the city lot across from the two, and Boudros has an elevator going down to the restaurant, which is on Riverwalk level.

I had lost the link to the riverwalk, We did the mission trail last year. So we wanted to see and do as much of the rw this year.
and of course good eats.

as for handicap access, it really depends on how handicap accessible you need...if you're talking about walking with a cane, you're probably ok, if you need a wheelchair...you're really not going to be able to do the Riverwalk at all, no matter what the website says. The path is not level, right now (probably through the weekend) it's crowded, it some places it's narrow and in other places it's wide enough to get 3 across.

We usually park at the USO parking or at one of the hotels (dang, now I can't remember the name, it's the one right across from the old bank building) I like it because it's also right over were the bicycle police station is.

I used to enjoy The Landing which I believe was last in the Hyatt Regency on Losoya Street, when Jim Cullum's Jazz Band was there. The last few times we parked in a parking structure across the street from the Hyatt. Access through the Hyatt is doable, but once you get on the River Walk itself there might be problems for handicapped depending. I don't know the name of the parking structure, but it was ample, easy in and out it seemed, not unreasonable, and close to the Alamo as well.

I see you are USN retired and assume you have a blue card to get access to DOD bases. So I'm going to also suggest you visit the Quadrangle at Ft Sam. Be sure to stop in the commissary and pick up a bag of apples. Slice them up and be prepaird to make new friends. The deer will ear right out of you hand and are very tame.
When I woked in there a few years ago, we had to be careful not to trip of the many wildlife as we exited the doors.

On a slightly different note, has anyone ever figured out the San Antonio knife laws yet? Last I heard was no locking bades of any type.

DOD bases. So I'm going to also suggest you visit the Quadrangle at Ft Sam

be sure you disarm prior to going in (if necessary - Federal property)
