Interim Police Chief Accidentally Shoots Herself

Police reported earlier that Bryant was putting an older-model handgun back in storage when it discharged. The bullet struck Bryant on the ring finger of her left hand. The wound required surgery, but Bryant has returned to work.

Maybe a little training on weapons handling would not be a bad idea for the Fayetteville would not be a bad idea.

"Good or bad, we're going to report it," Mitchell said, noting that sheriff's Maj. John McRainey immediately made a report when he accidentally shot himself in November. McRainey, the sheriff's chief jailer, remains hospitalized.

That would be embarrassing. I do have to say, in all reality this happens to people besides LEO's and it only makes the news if they are an LEO. Now I am not saying this was a good thing, but it is a LOT different then a constable in a school cranking off a round.
