How Dare He Lecture Us on the Bill of Rights?

As the name indicates, this is the place for gun-related political discussions. It is not open to other political topics.

How Dare He Lecture Us on the Bill of Rights?

We have the right to worship freely and safely; that right was denied to Sikhs in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. The right to assemble peacefully; that right was denied shoppers in Placimus (ph), Oregon, and moviegoers in Aurora, Colorado.

That most fundamental set of rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, fundamental rights that were denied to college students at Virginia Tech and high school students at Columbine and elementary school students in Newtown; and kids on street corners in Chicago on too frequent basis to tolerate; and all the families who never imagined they’d lose a loved one to -- to a bullet, those rights are at stake. We’re responsible.
He's using the other amendments to validate the trampling of the second...

Doesn't he realize that the purpose of these amendments is to restrict the GOVERNMENT from trampling our rights? There are no parts here which keep people from trampling on each other (there are other laws for that!).

If I try to write any more, I'll violate the rules of this message board. I'll leave this seed out there for the more skilled commentators to chime in.

that part absolutely enraged me.

He neglected to mention that in every one of those cases, the victims were first denied their fundamental 2nd amendment right to defend themselves against an attacker.

Now he wants to further deny that right.

A man who is fine with the murder of preborns in the third trimester has no right to lecture anyone on sad children stories.

He is a hypocrite and a lying one at that, most foul.

Except in the mall shooting. There was CHL holder there, and the assailant stopped as soon as he saw the CHL holder.

Idiocy has no bounds in the yankee capitol (my term for the city between Virginia and Maryland).

The end justifies the means. If he's able to convince people to give up their rights (or accept the rights being taken from them) it matters not that the means used were fraudulent or misleading.

I think about that every time I hear " if we could save the life of just one child" ...
So we stomp on the rights of legal, responsible gun owners.
Using that logic, should we be thinking about banning bikes???

In that case ....I think First Amendment/Freedom of the Press should cover printing 3-D guns/Magazines then. It's a Freedom of Speech protest against Infringement on other Constitutional thingamajiggers and whatnots. ;-)
