Academy won't work on AR's!?!

Post by 2fs2ns »

Now this isn't coming from me, but one of my best friends in Wichita Falls, TX. Bought a new scope for his AR and wanted the guys at Academy to bore sight it for him. They informed him that due to what's been happening, they won't work on an AR... He didn't push the issue or talk to a mgr. Spineless!!

I'm going to Academy in Plano later today to get some boxing gear. I'll stop by the gun counter and have a chat. Might pick up some ammo too if they have any (but I'm not holding my breath).

Academy in Plano said they didn't know of any ban on working on ARs. Maybe it's a store by store thing?

BTW, this "1 box per caliber per customer per day" thing they are doing is ridiculous.

Maybe, but this is the same kind of "throttling" you would see in supermarkets if there was a sudden run on items like milk, bottled water, etc (those of us that have or do live in hurricane areas have seen this). Prevents black market scalping (or in this case, GunBroker scalping). I'm not saying this is a policy I would take myself, but it's a valid way to keep inventories available for all customers. You probably wouldn't like it if I bought up a month's worth of Academy's 5.56 ammo and then sold it for 4x the price at my place.
I don't fear guns; I fear voters and politicians that fear guns.

I've seen a local store selling the same ammo that WalMart has for more than twice the price...

I wouldn't trust Academy to do that kind of work in the first place... but I agree this isn't good.
