A shooting range in Burlington, Vermont, stopped allowing local police to practice there, in protest of the city council voting for a local "assault weapons" and magazine ban.
The range had formerly allowed police to practice at no charge.
Ironically (IMO) the local ban would be contrary to state law and probably unenforceable. Burlington is the most populous city in Vermont, but a small town by most standards.

Fear, anger, hatred, and greed. The devil's all-you-can-eat buffet.

The city council is cutting off its nose to spite it's face.

I love it. Hope it spreads.

As much as I like it, how many patrons will get harassed coming/going from the range? Ops...your tail light is out.....you were speeding making that turn into the parking lot.....can I see your license, registration and insurance?
Re: VT: Shooting range bars local police in protest
It's a small town, and probably a lot of people are relatives and acquaintances. That kind of thing wouldn't fly. Also the cops know that it's a protest against the city council, not against the cops themselves.
More likely it will result in a backlash at the city council members who voted for it.
Here's another local article:

I lived in Vermont for three years in the early '80s and twice had Bernie Sanders walk in front of my car while picketing GE....... Talk about missed opportunities.seamusTX wrote:It's a small town, and probably a lot of people are relatives and acquaintances. That kind of thing wouldn't fly. As for Burlington, it is the Austin of Vermont. About 1/4 of the voters are liberal college students, many from New England coastal states, that heavily influence local politics.
