quick questions on PSC's IDPA match tomorrow

Post by j1132s »

*** Question #1:

On the web site it mentions:

Sign-up begins at 8:30 AM in the IDPA Match building (not the PSC blue building) in the parking area for Bays 2A through 2E . The match begins as close to 9:30 AM as possible.

So, does this mean that I can show up around 9:20AM, assuming shooters' meeting is at 9:30AM? (I'm coming in from Austin so would like to know when is the latest I can show up.)

Also, my situation has changed and will be coming w/o wife so I should be able to stay for tear down, chat, or whatever help I can offer.

*** Question #2:
How are we identifying CHL forum members? Do I just say "Please put me on the CHL forum squad" when I sign up?

*** Question #3:
From checking out the past scores, the # of stages varies between 6-10. How many will there be tomorrow? I.e. I probably should ask how many rounds of ammo I need?

*** Question #4:
There is a chance I'll bring a new shooter. She's good with guns, but nervous about her first match, so she's planning to just watch. If she decides to shoot, she'll have to go thru new shooter orientation according to the web site:

A New Shooters Orientation will be conducted for people who have never shot an IDPA match. This short orientation will include IDPA rules, PSC range rules, safety issues and requirements and tips for shooting your first match.

When is this given? I.e. I'd like to know a time to help plan the drive from Austin.

thanks-

I think only Charles can say when is the latest, but I've shown up at 10AM before and I was still able to finish everything.

Never been on a squad before at PSC. I like that idea.

I've never exceed 200 rds, but I usually have 250 rds in my bag. Hehe

thanks

Good thing about PSC is that it is run by a bunch of awesome folks. The people who shoot there are friendly as well. The orientation is given at the beginning before the new shooter goes out to start. Please feel free to ask anyone if you don't understand something. I, for one, wil be more than willing to answer any questions if I know the answers to them.

You could get there as late as about 10:00 and still be able to shoot. We'd prefer you not be that late, but if you're coming from Austin we'll understand if you can't get there at 9:00 am. We hope to have the match started by 9:00 am, but we say 9:30 in case the SO's take longer to shoot than we anticipate.

The new shooter orientation will begin at 8:30, but again, don't worry if you can't get there that early. We'll do a quick one for your friend.

This match is a minimum f 104 rounds in 10 scenarios. We always run 10 scenarios except for months that also have a Classifier. Then we run 8.

Thanks for coming and drive carefully.
Chas.
