Neighbor problems

Post by mommagamber »

Just found out my neighbor, who is also a CHL instructor, is trying to cause problems for me with DPS. I have been super busy with my classes and he has not. I think he is just jealous but we have a completely different target of students. I don't advertise and I charge 1/2 of what he does. He has his panties all in a wad. Why do people have to be so ugly. I have insurance and doing everything legally. Trying to figure out what he is going to report me for.

Hate to hear that. We had the same problem once.

Good thing is - DPS understands that instructors tend to be territorial, and sometimes, downright nasty, to each other.

Just make sure all your ducks are in a row, and you should have no problems.

Pay a lawyer $100 t write him a letter explaining any slander or defamation of caractor will be met with a law suit.
He'll shut up real fast when he realizes running his mouth can cost him a fortune.

Just make sure you're doing everything right.
Be without fear in the face of your enemies.
Stand brave and upright that the Lord may love thee.
Speak the truth always even if it means your death.

It just sucks that DPS is going to have to investigate false claims. Dps has enough to do. That is a good idea about the lawyer. I would like to go knock on his door and tell him if DPS shows up on my door then the ATF is going to be showing up on his to look at his FFL stuff. I however am not that petty.

Dispute resolution would dictate that showing up at his door at all is a no no. Even if you really want to :evil2:
Perhaps he would really like you to do something like that which could get you in the unhappy position of explaining to the police why you are there on his property. Better to keep a distance and let your lawyer send him a letter. Never underestimate the cunning ways some people have of maneuvering situations to their own benefit.

As I know all too well, sometimes defending your business and good name is a cost of doing business. Lawyer up.

If you think ATF should really be showing up at his door then I suggest you be a Good Samaritan and contact them. He could potentially be doing something in his house that has you and your family/belongings at risk.

Glad you're not that petty. Two wrongs never make a right.

I can recall when my brother and I were very young we had older neighbors. Whenever our ball would go in their yard they would come out and take it, telling us not to play in their yard.
Finally, after this had happened a number of times, my mom made some cookies and dad brewed some coffee and off they went to the neighbors house. They were gone for what seemed like hours.
To make a long story short, from that day until they both died the neighbors treated my brother and me like their own grandchildren.
It all came down to communication. Maybe invite them out to dinner or something. Maybe once you get to know each other better the silly stuff won't seem so important anymore.
One thing I can assure you, if a lawyer gets involved you will have an enemy for life.

I do not know your particular situation, but I would try a nice approach first. If that don't do it, I would attempt it again...., Kill him with kindness. It will keep him guessing.

Funny you should say that. I have named my new 1911 "Kindness".
