I did not know it was very close to $100 to ship a firearm.

If you ship it FedEx overnight (which is required by FedEx) yourself it's expensive, but most FFLs can do it for you a whole lot cheaper because they can send it via the USPS. Even with a fee, it's still much cheaper.

If it's going from a TX address to a TX address, try LoneStar Overnight. It'll get done WAY cheaper and with a lot less hassle. Downside is that you'll need to drop it off at their offices, they won't come to you for a firearm.

My LGS was not interested in providing such a service. Haven't needed to ship one since the new owners took over. Hopefully they view service differently than previous management.
I believe after 20 min of discussion I got UPS down to $60. They wanted me to ship it priority overnight which was $90. I talked them into the standard overnight which was closer to $60.

USPS postage is about $12. Last two handguns I shipped were shipped by my FFL for $30.

I wouldn't confuse what a "seller" in another state charges to ship you a gun through HIS FFL (or if they are an FFL themselves), with what a local FFL will charge YOU to ship a gun to an out of state person. Prices vary by FFL, so call several ones local to you and ask what they charge. In most, if not all, cases it will be far cheaper than shipping the gun yourself via FedEx or UPS.

A nice FFL can ship a firearm for you for about $50. Maybe a little more if it's a big gun or you want high insurance on it.

If you ship a handgun with me, I charge $20 plus actual shipping rounded to nearest $5. This helps me manage actual costs and lets you know up-front my "fee". A handgun via USPS is about $16, so my final charge to you would be $40.

There you go :tiphat:

It was $60 to ship from The Arms Room with a insurance of $550. If the insurance in under $500, then the shipping cost is $25 or $35. I can't remember which one.
