I thought this was incredible.... San Angelo used to be a quiet town. And people still wonder why we carry every day? No idea why they were shooting to begin with, but if it can happen to two kids, it sure can happen to me!

Just after 7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2013, San Angelo Police were dispatched to the 300 block of W Avenue R for the report of shots fired. While officers were enroute to the location of the shooting incident, dispatch received a separate call from a complainant who reported her juvenile son and his friend had been shot at.

Upon arrival, officers located the juvenile victims near the area of the shooting. During the investigation police learned the 13 and 14 year-old victims were reportedly walking in the area of Avenue R when they were approached by a white pickup truck that was occupied by several people. The truck then drove away and circled the block a few times before returning to their location when a man exited the truck and began shooting at them with a handgun. The victims, who were able to run away from the man, were not injured as a result of the shooting. Officers at the scene were able to locate evidence of the shooting to include gauge marks in the roadway as well as several spent shell casings that appeared to have been fired from a semi-automatic handgun.

Subsequent to the field investigation, police learned the identity of one suspect and located him a short time later at a residence in the 700 block of Powell St. Shortly after, a second suspect was observed being dropped off at the Fairgrounds and later located by Tom Green County Sheriff’s deputies.

Additional information was learned about the identity of the other suspects as well as the location of the white pickup truck which was reported to be registered to an address in Grape Creek, Texas. Due to the alleged location of the suspect vehicle, San Angelo Police requested assisted from deputies with the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Department of Public Safety. Soon after, deputies located the suspect vehicle at a residence in 8000 block of W Grape Creek Rd. along with two additional suspects.

Prior to locating the suspects at the residence on Grape Creek Rd., TGCSO deputies observed a vehicle leaving that residence and followed it to the Murphy’s Oil USA gas Station located at 618 W 29th St. The vehicle and occupants were detained pursuant to the shooting investigation. One of the vehicle’s occupants, identified as Maurillo Pintado (DOB 11-18-94) of San Angelo was found to be in possession of a stolen revolver. Two other firearms were located inside the vehicle as well as several types of ammunition, including the same type found at the scene of the shooting. As a result of this multi-agency investigation, all of the suspects were located and arrested within four hours of the incident. They have been identified and charged as follows; Johnny Garcia (DOB 03-21-95) of San Angelo-Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon; Miguel Angel Hernandez (DOB 05-13-95) of Grape Creek-Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon; Adrian Sarzosa (DOB 08-07-89) of San Angelo-Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and outstanding City Warrants; and Ramiro Martinez (DOB 11-10-95) of San Angelo-Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Pintado was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Theft of a Firearm and outstanding City Warrants.

There is no further information at this time. Detective Antoine Callum is assigned to this case.

That's crazy!!!
Be without fear in the face of your enemies.
Stand brave and upright that the Lord may love thee.
Speak the truth always even if it means your death.
Protect the helpless and do no wrong!

That is nuts, for sure! Sounds like one of things that could happen anywhere, although I know it happened in your town, snatchel! Glad they caught those hooligans... :smash:

Anyone want to guess how long before they're back on the street?
