Re: Where White Man Went Wrong
Once again, satire IMHO.
Re: Where White Man Went Wrong
It is not satire. The reason y'all don't get it is because it's a white man narrating a Native American anecdote. It would be like trying to listen to Obama give a pro 2A speech. Your ears would hear the words but it wouldn't make sense...and you probably wouldn't get it anyway. Maybe the massacre of Wounded Knee makes sense?
It's about a way of life that was wiped out. Why? Because some felt superior and entitled by an imagined sense of righteousness. Aren't we in a similar situation now? Colors are a sad way to judge a man or a woman under any circumstances. Valuing and exercising our Second Amendment rights is a way of life many in the government would like to see wiped out, and for most of the same reasons "we" wiped out the Native Americans: It's easier with no resistance.

I get it. My grandmother was full blooded. My mother was born in the same tent my grandmother died in two years later.
I'm still not impressed.

It's not about an impression. It's about perspective and respect.

I understand what you are saying, I just don't feel that this video comes anywhere near delivering that message.Kadelic wrote:It's not about an impression. It's about perspective and respect.

Re: Where White Man Went Wrong
I guess I'm supposed to feel bad for being white, and for any ancestral guilt. I get it.
And for the record, the original telling of that message was a JOKE, people. Comedians told it. On stage. The "white man retelling the Indian's story" is apocryphal. http://www.lecontact.com/archives_of_jokes_11.htm
But I'm a white man, so what do I know.

Man, this is a tough crowd. I found it funny and took it as a satirical joke with some measure of truth to it.

Re: Where White Man Went Wrong
My mistake. I beg your pardon for taking it seriously. My comments weren't about any inherited guilt or being white. I guess I should relax and take a joke for what it is.

Re: Where White Man Went Wrong
And that is exactly how I took it, but what followed seemed a little bit much.......but then I've just finished reading on another site about how the degree of difficulty of my life is easier than anybody else's because I'm a white heterosexual male, and so therefore anything I say must be automatically devalued by that amount because I can never relate to how hard anybody else's life is. I am self employed, in a difficult business, battered by an economy whose toxicity has been increased by a black racist president, in which I cannot qualify for government work because I am routed to the bottom of the list of acceptable vendors because I am a white heterosexual male..........strictly by accident of birth......and I am partially disabled to boot, but I refuse to suckle at that government teat. The person who wrote the above mentioned web page, who claims himself to be a white heterosexual male, is a flippin' lunatic. It appears that the world has completely lost its collective mind. So when I came back here for a little sanity, I saw someone who couldn't see the joke, and wanted me to believe that it took someone like me to ruin a good thing.JJVP wrote:Man, this is a tough crowd. Even so, come Jesus, come.

Re: Where White Man Went Wrong
I see the joke. I admitted to taking it out of context and my response was a bit much. I guess the second paragraph of my first post in this thread was unread or misinterpreted. I think I'm roughly on the same page as some of y'all on this site, otherwise I wouldn't bother. I know I don't post much. Guess I'll have to jump in more often, and more relevantly.
