OK: Man fatally shot at shooting range

Post by seamusTX »

In Oklahoma City around 5:30 p.m. today, a man was found with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

The authorities are not speculating publicly whether the shooting was suicide, an accident, or homicide.

A good chance is nothing. Most people who commit suicide at a range will make sure they are not being watched or wait until the lanes empty from around them. The range may have security cameras on the lanes though and a review of the recording(s) will show what happened.

Many ranges do not have a range officer who watches the line at all times.

A lot of information could or will come out. Forensics will demonstrate whether the deceased man was shot with the weapon that was in his hand. Also, if it is a case of suicide, notes or other information like social media may be found. People have left virtual "suicide notes" on Facebook and other social media.

Suicide.

The victim was a 24-year-old man. Employees said he had previously shot at the range. He acted normal and fired a few rounds until he shot himself.

The victim was an Arab who grew up in the U.S., assuming I found the right guy online.

I would speculate the cause was mental illness. Of course I have no information related to this case.

It's quite common for mental illness to develop when a person is in his late teens or early twenties. That is why you see so many of these violent acts, including mass murder, committed by men in that age bracket.

First thing came to my mind was some kind of family/maybe girlfriend issues? :headscratch
Too bad, going for his MBA while managing the family restaurant...just seemed like it was a sudden onset of circumstances maybe. What a waste. I wish someone could tell these people nothing is ever that bad...
